A brief trip back to the States

My first time in nearly a year! After stepping off the plane in San Francisco, I suddently remembered why I miss SF so much – clear air, good living, happy people. Basically, the polar opposite of Central in Hong Kong…

Here’s some snapshots from the trip…

Of course, there was the Heavenly Kings at the San Francisco International Film Festival…



And the resultant afterparty…

Then going down to LA for my grandfather’s funeral… And then a couple of days hanging at my brother’s place with MINIMAL internet access (very painful)..

Down in L.A., I went to go see Justin Lin’s new movie “Finishing the Game” playing at opening night of the VC Film Fest. I’ve been looking forward to this movie for a while since the concept is really appealing to me (a mockumentary about the behind-the-scenes search for a double for the late-Bruce Lee on Game of Death) so I’m glad I finally got to see it.

My trip BACK to SF from LA was almost as strenuous as my overnight drive down to LA. Had an afternoon lunch meeting followed by driving BACK to San Francisco  – then broomball with friends – then Wii night at Amy’s – then driving BACK to Emeryville to crash at Mcchubb’s…

Wii Sports night at Amy’s… I’m so embarressed … I got beat up at boxing by a girl… Actually, Jen took me out pretty badly – 2-round KO! It’s embarassing because I thought I actualy practiced Wii Boxing pretty well… At least I still won at tennis…

As aforementioned, I gave away or sold most of my stuff so I spent my final day, Sunday, doing the touristy thing and enjoying the prototypical Sunday afternoon thing in SF with my friend Vicky…



Visiting Sutro Cliffs and having brunch at Cliff House – my first time eating at Cliff House! I can’t believe I’ve been in SF for 14 years and never been to Cliff House to eat.



Visitng Ocean Beach… lots of people because it was so hot…

And then off to Sunset to get bubble tea at Quickly – can you believe that all of the other bubble tea places on 23rd and Irving are shutdown?!? As of a year ago, there were four places on one block and now it’s just crappy Quickly. There was a line around the block on such a hot day.

Then Korean BBQ with all of my friends! :-) And finally, off to the airport to fly back to SF. I carried on the scent of Korean BBQ onto the plane with me :-)…

Oh… and when I get back to the office early in the morning in HK, this is what greets me…
