A hike on Hong Kong island where you don't die from air pollution |

  • Alive Not Dead archive

This weekend I went with a bunch of friends to travel to the southeast most corner of Hong Kong Island – time to hike Dragon’s Back near Shek O. Can you believe that there is a beautiful piece of scenery just 15 minutes away from downtown Hong Kong? Compared to my Bataan Death March with Michael several weekends ago (just kidding), this one was a cinch – in fact, at only 2 hours (1 hour to the top, half an hour to get down, half an hour break in between). it was waaay too short. Nonetheless, it turned out to be a perfect hiking day with perfect weather and a cool, comfortable wind.

At the bottom of Dragon’s Back / 在龙脊开始爬山

Really at the top of Dragon’s Back / 龙脊上, 真的在最高的位置

A view of Shek O from the top /

It only took 2 hours, but we worked up a huge appetite and finished off a Thai feast in Shek O afterwards /

Acting silly on the beach …

The sand sculpture competition /

We craft our own sand slippers for Tanya / 我们建了自己的沙雕塑 – 给tanya拖鞋

I really recommend this easy hike for anyone looking to get out of the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.
